Ecstasy rehab in the United Kingdom

Drug: MethylenedioxyMethamphetamine.
Ecstasy Street names: Adam, XTC, hug, beans, and love Drug.
Ecstasy Description: Ecstasy belongs to a family of drugs called "entactogens," which means "touching within." Other drugs under this classification are MDA, MDE and MBDB.

Prior to become illicit in 1985, MDMA was utilized by psychiatrists as a therapeutic tool.
MDMA is a "mood elevator" that creates a relaxed and euphoric state. MDMA does not create hallucinations. MDMA takes effect 20 to 40 minutes after administration of a tablet, with small rushes of exhilaration which can be accompanied by nausea. 60 to 90 minutes after taking MDMA, the drug user feels the peak effects. Sensations are enhanced and the drug user experiences heightened feelings of empathy, emotional warmth, and self-acceptance. The effects of 'real' Ecstasy subside after approximately 3-5 hours. Ecstasy users say that the experience is extremely pleasant and controllable. Even at the peak of the effect, Ecstasy users can generally deal with important matters. What makes MDMA different from other drugs is the feeling of empathy, the sensation of understanding and accepting others.

Ecstasy Street use: Oral.

Ecstasy Dependency: There have been certain fatalities associated with MDMA. Generally, these deaths have been a consequence of heatstroke from dancing for long periods of time in hot clubs without replenishing lost body fluids. The majority of what is sold as "Ecstasy" on the black market actually contains other drugs, certain of which can be more harmful than MDMA, such as PMA, speed, DXM and PCP. Mixing Ecstasy with alcohol or other drugs increases the possibilities of adverse reactions.
